Cheap wine, cheaper women and cigars...

And hell yes, Waits is a national treasure. He's one of the great American storytellers. And I'll personally gut anyone who says different.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19897529.post-1141352129496985392006-03-02T21:15:00.000-05:002006-03-02T21:15:00.000-05:00Bukowski's the smart guess. I'm pretty sure it ain't Hemingway, partly because his routine for so long was to write by hand standing up, and also because the forearm doesn't look hairy enough. Which of course might nix Bukowski as well. I've obviously thrown myself out of the running by this point, but it's nice to think out loud.Olen Steinhauerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17804228640138136310noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19897529.post-1141326574766274892006-03-02T14:09:00.000-05:002006-03-02T14:09:00.000-05:00I'm going to say Hemingway. They cabled Faulkner, who'd gone home to Mississipi. Fualkner cabled back "The Butler did it."

Never let truth get in the way of a good legend.

-Still Not DuaneJD Rhoadeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07123361739160525998noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19897529.post-1141319987056352592006-03-02T12:19:00.000-05:002006-03-02T12:19:00.000-05:00I'll try for another win in the contest: Charles B...I'll try for another win in the contest: Charles Bukowski?

-Not DuaneJD Rhoadeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07123361739160525998noreply@blogger.com
