It's a good thing we don't have Canada's health care system.

Because then we might have a shortage of H1N1 vaccine.

Oh, wait.

OK, sure, we have people who can't get the vaccine here too, but at least we're not evil like Canada.

Know who jumps to the front of the line in the Great White North? Pregnant women? Children? Geezers?

Nope. Hockey players. That's right. Hockey players got their shots before any of those other, non-hockey people who clutter up Canada's socialist clinics.

And that would never happen here. Here, the vaccine goes to the people who need it most. Like Wall Street bankers.

Meanwhile, someone was fired for giving the hockey players preference, proving that our health care system is nothing like Canada's. Because nothing like that would ever happen here. That's called accountability and it's right up there with socialism as a nonstarter.

On a side note, Happy Veteran's Day to everyone who stood up, raised your right hand and served your nation. I'm honored to be in such distinguished company.

And to all the chickenhawks who let another mother's child take your place in line, go fuck yourself. I'm looking at you, Mr. Cheney. I'm looking at you.

I'm thinking of my brother-in-law, a Marine, who won a Silver Star and three purple hearts and came back an alcoholic and died at 29. What's going to happen to these veterans? He got almost no help dealing with that. Thanks President Reagan.

Richard Belzer used to do a bit as Ronald Reagan saying to Vietnam vets, "Sorry, wrong war, move along."

I'm sorry to hear about your brother-in-law.

You know, just being in the service, regardless of whether you saw combat or not, made it hard to readjust to civilian life. Throw in untreated PTSD and you've got real alienation.

I thought it was disappointing enough when this Canuck government politicized the Olympic torch race by focusing the vast majority of the relay through Conservative ridings, and not even bothering to invite non-Conservative Members of Parliament to the festivities.

Then, the ol' Swine Flu vaccine fiasco went down.

Then again, we've got a government that didn't believe we were in recession until we were hip deep in it.

I agree with all of your points here. This is very disturbing to me that we can not distribute appropriately a vaccine to the highest risk populations (please note: everyone should get this once widely available, the aim is to vaccinate very highest risk first).
