Have you noticed that no matter what you do, if you're a liberal, it's never enough?Conservatives are never satisfied. The same people who can make excuses for every one of George Bush's disastrous screw-ups, find fault with everyone else because it's just not enough.
Sure, Valerie Plame was a CIA operative, and the administration leaked her name to the press in order to discredit her husband, but was she secret enough for it to be a crime? I think so, but the Bushies don't.
Yes, Al Gore went to Vietnam when Dick Cheney had "other priorities," but Al wasn't in the infantry so he, according to right wingers, was never in enough danger for his service to count. So he should have just stayed home like George Bush, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney and those other rough-tough guys.
And John Kerry went to Vietnam, lead men in combat, saved a man's life while under fire and was wounded, but did he bleed enough to get a Purple Heart? Apparently not.
Max Cleland went to Vietnam too, fought the enemy and was horribly wounded in service to his country, but according to many on the right, Max just wasn't tough enough to serve in Congress along with all those GOP chickenhawks.
Now we have this 12-year-old kid, Graeme Frost, who the Democrats made the poster boy for the benefits of the SCHIP program. But, people like Michelle Malkin ask, are his parents poor enough for help, especially when the lampreys who make up our insurance industry have refused him coverage?
No, I guess not. But Michelle sure is crazy enough. Yow.
So here we are, on the cusp of an election and what is it the Republican candidates are asking each other? Are you conservative enough? John McCain, another veteran, was criticized for not being loyal enough to George Bush, so I guess he's out.
I don't know about you, but I've had enough.
In fact, I'm full up.

Wouldn't you think in the eight years since Bush took office they could have come up with one credible candidate.
What, as though Democrats never unjustly criticized even a moderate Republican? Aw come on! That's how you get to be great in this country and climb the corporate ladder; not by accomplishing anything or being of any value, but by criticizing your opposition and subjectively fault finding. It's the American way; right?
I blame both sets of a** wipe*! They're called politicians for a reason!

I love ya, man, but I gotta call you on this. Can you name one incident where the mainstream Democratic party and its supporters came even close to the putrage of outting a career intelligence op and then claiming she was little more than a secretary and that should make it all right?
I don't think so. And I know people at Langley who don't think so, either. This goes way beyond normal political mud-slinging.
The right today has redefined what is acceptable in politics, and it ain't pretty.

I can think of one really despicable thing ... John Kerry making an issue of out Bush's Yale grades, while keeping his own Yale grades sealed until after the election ... so no one would know that his were just as bad (a little worse, I believe) than W's. It's not the same type of sleazy as you might consider the Plame issue, but it's the same degree of sleaziness, I think. I liked your post, with the exception of that crazy picture of Michelle whatever-her-name ... there are plenty of photos like that of lunatics from both sides, so it's better just to ignore it.

I debated with myself putting up the looney shot of Malkin, so you're right. That she is crazy as a bug on a hot griddle is what tipped me into being, what I admit was less than fair.
Yeah, the Kerry grades thing is pretty scuzzy. Hell, to Dread's point, politics seems to bring out our worst instincts, but the reason I think this present gang goes way over the line is that they belittle things like service, sacrifice and duty, all things that they claim to honor and, in the case of Plame, I think actually did harm to our nation.
I'm 57 and lived through Johnson and Nixon and I can say I've never seen anything quite like this.
For the first time, I honestly don't trust my government. Before this I didn't think they would do the right thing because it was politically hard. Now I think they'll do the wrong things because they have no respect for our rights and institutions.
People who can justify the Unitary Executive, have no respect for the law. That's frightening.
I’m finding it harder and harder to say there is a difference between the lesser of two evils or the greater of two. Fascism and Socialism both have the arrogant elitist at the helm that exclude themselves from everyone else’s rules, because either God or fate has chosen them to rule. My parents taught me that two wrongs don’t make a right. Between these two parties, this country is like the man with one foot in a bucket of red-hot coals and the other in a bucket of ice water. Statistically everything is fine. So why are we all so dissatisfied?
