I had the same problem, but I discovered that I could circumvent it.
I went to a previous blog entry with an image, switched to HTML (there's a button), copied the code for the image (it'll also contain the code for the image's address, but you can copy over that later), returned to my current entry, switched to HTML, pasted the code at the top, went to the image address, copied that code, returned to my blog entry, and pasted the address code in on top of the address code already there. For some reason, one has to paste this in two spots.
It sounds complicated, but it's not so difficult once you've tried and succeeded.
Perhaps it'll work for you, too. I also learned from this how to place images wherever I want.
